Teaser - Stories For Amanda

Stories For Amanda will be released October 22, 2013. I'm so honored to be apart of this project.

Teaser - Wyatt's POV -

I wasn’t able to stop thinking about Skylar. I’d never seen such a beautiful girl before. That curly, long brown hair and the bluest of blue eyes were burned into my mind. The moment I saw her in the parking lot that morning, I’d known I needed to get to know her.

Then, when I saw her in my English class, something had happened. It was something that had never happened to me before. My heart had started pounding, my hands had started sweating, and I’d felt like I couldn’t catch my breath.

I walked into the lunchroom with Mike and a few other guys from the football team. I was really surprised that they were accepting me so quickly. From what my father was told, the coach had watched my games from my old high school. I was probably the best high school quarterback in New Mexico, and this high school needed a good quarterback.

I glanced over and saw that girl, Jenny, waving at me like a fool. When I looked away, I saw Skylar sitting at a table with another girl and a guy. They were sitting alone at a huge table while everyone else was crowded around two tables.

“Dude, get your lunch, and then come sit with us. Just watch out for Jenny. She’s already tried to get her claws into you once,” Mike said with a smile.

I laughed and shook my head. “Thanks, dude, but I think I’m going to go sit with Skylar.”

Mike’s smile faded. “Skylar? Skylar Woods?”

“Yep.”

“Ah, dude…I get that you’re new and everything, so I’m gonna let that one slide. You can’t hang out with Skylar.”

I instantly felt anger boiling in my blood. Holy shit. What is going on with me? Why am I getting so mad? “Why not?”

“Um…well, Skylar is, um…” Mike looked back over toward Skylar and then back at me.

I stood there, shaking my head. Does this guy even know why he’s not supposed to like this girl?

“Jacob, Wyatt wants to know why he can’t hang out with Skylar.”

Jacob laughed. “Dude, Skylar is…tainted if you know what I mean.”

I just looked at him. “No. I don’t know what you mean.”

Layton Morris and his brother Mike grew up not knowing what it would be like to live in a normal home. With no running water or electricity in their home, no parents around to protect them, they quickly learned how to survive and depend only on each other.

When a tragic accident takes Mike away from Layton, and the only other person that he ever let into his heart walked away from him, leaving his heart shattered, Layton focuses all of his time and energy into the ranch he and his brother dreamed of. He makes a vow to himself to never let love in again. The last thing Layton needed or wanted was more heartache.

Whitley Reynolds grew up in a privileged home in upstate New York. When she landed the star football player in high school no one was surprised, not even Whitley. She dreamed of a life with Roger living in New York City and happily followed him there.

The first time Roger hit her for arguing with him about a dinner party, she forgave him. The more it happened, the further Whitley withdrew from her friends and family. One fateful day things go to far. Whitley makes a promise to herself and finds the courage to do the one thing she thought she’d never be able to do.

Fleeing with her best friend Courtney, Whitley was determined to put her past behind her and start a new life in the small town of Llano, Texas, where no one would ever find out about her past.

SAME DRILL Y'ALL....this has NOT been edited and is subject to change before publishing.

Whitley's POV from the book Broken (due out mid November)

“I need to leave. I’m tired and my head is pounding.”
Courtney grabbed her purse and sighed.
“Fine. Party pooper. Let’s go home.”
I couldn’t believe how mad I was as I started to make my way out of the bar. What in the hell was wrong with me? I felt like I wanted to just haul of and punch someone.  Stupid Layton Morris.
I stormed off and away from Courtney as I made my way towards the door. I went to walk out when the door opened and I ran smack into Layton.
“Shit CG, watch out where you’re going sweetheart. I damn near knocked you over.” He said with that damn drop-dead smile of his.
What an asshole! How dare he call me sweetheart after he was practically fucking that girl on the dance floor?
Fuck off you jerk.” I said as I tried to walk around him.
He laughed and said, “Whitley…I was only kidding. Are you okay?”
I looked out the door and saw Misty standing there waiting on Layton.
“Do all the cowboys in Texas take home slutty bartenders and fuck them to forget their problems? Real classy move there. Not what was I was expecting from a…what did you call yourself earlier? Oh yeah, a southern gentleman. Ha. That’s a fucking joke.”
Oh my god! Why did I just say that?
Whitley!” Courtney said as she grabbed my arm. “Sorry, Layton. I think she’s had too much to drink.”
I pulled my arm out of Courtney’s hand. “No I haven’t, Court.”
I looked at Layton and I instantly regretted my words when I saw the hurt in his eyes. Those beautiful blue eyes of his that I could get so lost in. Ugh…those stupid eyes.
Then he slowly smiled. “No, Whitley, only the fucked up cowboys who want to forget everything for a little bit take home slutty bartenders to fuck the memories away. Are all New Yorkers such nosy bitches?”
I pushed him away from me and started to walk out the door. “Fuck off asshole.”
I started out the door and looked over at Misty as she gave me a shit-eating grin.
As I walked past her I said, “Enjoy being used sweetheart. He’s only using you for the sex. Like all men…he’s a fucked up asshole who only thinks with his dick.”
Her smile faded and I saw her look over my shoulder. I kept walking but turned around quickly and saw Layton standing there watching me.
Shit! Shit! Shit! Why did I just do that? He’s been nothing but nice to me since I met him. Okay, maybe not nice all the time but he’s been a gentlemen and I just acted like a total bitch!
Courtney grabbed my arm once we got a bit further away as she stopped walking and spun me around to look at her.
“Holy shit, Whit. What in the hell was that all about? How many beers did you have and what did that guy ever do to you that caused you to be such a bitch towards him?”
I felt the tears stinging my eyes as I shook my head. “I don’t know, Court. I don’t know what happened, something just snapped. Oh my god. I can’t believe I said that. I’ll never be able to show my face to him ever again.” I put my hand up to my mouth and started crying.
“Oh honey it’s okay. You’ve had so much going on that maybe Richard telling you Layton was using that girl just for sex just pushed you over the edge. Whit, you can tell me all you want that you can’t stand the guy but I can tell you like him. Maybe not as in you want to take him home and have your wicked way with him, but you do like him. I think you might have gotten a tad bit jealous.”
I stood there and just looked at my best friend. I wiped the tears away from my eyes and put my hands on my hips. I knew she was right but no way was I admitting any feelings for Layton Morris.
“Bullshit. That’s just bullshit. I’m not the least bit jealous because I would never look at him that way.”
Courtney raised her eyebrow and looked at me like I was a five year old who was lying to her mother.
I rolled my eyes and started walking again. “Ugh. I’m going home. I’m tired, I drank to much and I didn’t even want to go out in the first place.”

****Teaser Tuesday!***
Same drill as always y'all.....this has NOT been edited and is subject to change before publishing.

Broken expected release November 2013

Layton's POV

I had the strangest feeling come over me and I remembered my dream where Mike was telling me that Whitley needed my help.
I stepped out of the shower and began drying off and then got dressed, the whole time trying to shake the bad feeling I had.
As I made my way down to the barn I kept hearing the same thing over and over in my head.
Go to her…she needs your help. She needs you to save her.
I walked into the barn and was startled to see Courtney sitting in there reading.
“Hey Court. I thought you and Mitch were heading to Enchanted Rock.”
She smiled and shook her head. “I guess something happened with a cow or a calf or something. I think Reed sent you a message on your phone. They headed to the north pasture to ‘go take care of it’. So, I thought I’d get caught up on some reading. I just can’t seem to concentrate. I’ve had the strangest feeling all today.”
I stopped saddling up Misty, my new paint horse, and turned to look at Courtney.
“What do you mean?”
She shrugged her shoulders. “It just feels like I’m being watched. I’ve felt like this for the last few days. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just worried because everything seems to be falling into place, especially for Whitley. It’s like I’m waiting for the floor to fall out from under her feet. Ya know what I mean?”
Just then Mitch and Reed came riding back in. Reed jumped off his horse and walked straight up to me.
“Dude, there was someone on the ranch.”
“What?”
“Mitch and I were in the north pasture trying to get some barb wire off a calf when I glanced up and saw a car driving, on the ranch. Mitch and I got on the horses and headed over but by the time we got there they were gone. But they had cut a hole in the fence line and you could tell they had driven in and out maybe once or twice.”
My heart started pounding. I looked at Courtney who was now standing up. “Whitley." she whispered.
I nodded my head and turned back towards Reed. “What kind of car was it?”
“Oh um… shit I don’t know. A sports car, wouldn’t you say Mitch?”
Mitch nodded and then said, “Maybe a convertible because it almost looked like the top was down.”
“Motherfucker.” It all hit me at once. “Pete Miller.”

How about a little teaser from Cherished?

I think we need to celebrate the birth of the Wanted gang with a Cherished teaser.....
Y'all know the drill....this has not been edited and is subject to change before publishing.

How about a little Ari?

ADULT CONTENT!

Ari's POV

He closed his eyes and let out a breath as he shook his head. “Okay...I understand you’re married, with two kids now but really? Sex in the barn…at you nieces first birthday party?”

My father turned and looked at Jeff. “What in the hell is wrong with you Johnson?”

Jeff’s mouth dropped open and that’s when I knew I was in trouble. Don’t talk. Just don’t talk, Jeff.

“What? Why do you always assume it’s my fault?”

I stepped in-between Jeff and my father. “It’s okay, Jeff…let’s just head on back up…”

My dad gently pushed me out of the way as he pointed his finger at Jeff and said, “Because nine times out of ten…it’s always your fault.”

“Oh. Oh. Real nice. Well, it just so happens that this time it wasn’t my fault.” Jeff said as I tried desperately to get him to stop talking.

“Jeff, it’s okay really. I’m sure Ells and Gunner can give us a change of clothes and…”

“And why was my daughter sitting on top of you half naked you ass?”

Oh shit. Jeff has that look.

“First off, it was your daughter who propositioned me for sex in the first place.”

My mouth dropped open and I couldn’t move. He didn’t…just…say…that!

“Me being the good husband that I am, I wasn’t about to let her down so I brought her to the barn.”

Stop. Talking.

“We heard Garrett and Ari was half naked so I pushed her into Big Roy’s stale and Garrett walked in. Roy obviously was in a playful mood and he nudged Ari and she…well she…she lost her balance and…”

He’s gonna start laughing! Oh my god.

Jeff let out a small laugh as he tried to contain it. I don’t know what to be more pissed about. The fact that he just told my father we fucked in the barn or that he’s laughing.

My father just stood there staring at Jeff. “Jeff…son…there are some things you just don’t tell the father of your wife. You’ll start to understand this more when Grace grows up, but in the meantime, from now on…let’s just keep your sexual encounters with my daughter to yourself shall we?”

My father turned and walked away as I put my hands on hips and gave Jeff a what-the-fuck look.

Tuesday Teaser!!!

****TUESDAY TEASER****

Same drill as always y'all...this had NOT been edited and is subject to change before publishing.

From my new series....Broken...expected release November 2013

Layton's POV

We walked side by side as we approached the house. The closer we got the bigger it got.
“Jesus…this house is huge. Just you live here?”
He let out a laugh and walked up onto the back porch. As we walked into the house we walked right into an eating area. It was nothing but windows looking out over the beautiful Texas hill country views. I walked into the kitchen and almost let out a whimper. I thought my parents had a beautiful kitchen, this was straight out of a magazine.
“Holy shit. I could have an orgasm just standing in this kitchen.” I placed my hand on top of the island and walked as I took everything in and ran my hand along the cool granite. When I looked up at him he had removed his cowboy hat and all I saw was a pile of messy brown hair. Holy shit…it was that ‘just fucked’ hair that Courts always talking about. Be cool, Whitley. Be. Cool.
Layton let out a laugh. “Well, I’ve never had anyone say that about my kitchen before.”
I turned and looked at him. “You have to have a party here! I mean…if this is just the kitchen, I can’t imagine what the rest of the house looks like.”
His smile faded and he walked away. Shit. What’d I say?
I followed him past a butler’s pantry, then past a huge formal dinning room and into a breath taking living room. I’d never seen a living room so big in my entire life, nothing but floor to ceiling windows, again, looking out to the hill country.
Then I saw them. I slowly looked around and saw nothing but dead animals on the walls. A huge elk was on the fireplace just staring at me. Deer…turkey…
Oh. My. God. Is that a fox?
“You have a fox…you have a dead fox on your wall!”
Layton let out a laugh. “Yes ma’am I do. I like to hunt.”
I spun around and looked at him. “Please at least tell me you eat the meat and you’re not one of those men who just likes to hunt to kill.”
“I make some of the best Elk beef stew around. Want some?”
“Eeewwwa. Gross! No thank you.” Just then two labs came running up to us. One was black and the other was brown. Oh…I love labs! I bent down and was attacked with nothing but wet kisses from both.
“All Right y’all, leave her be. Kennels.” And with that they both ran into another room. I looked up at him with a questioning look.
“Kennels?”
“Yep. I just have to say it and they go lay down in their kennels.”
Jesus H. Christ. The thought of him training his dogs to listen so well was a total turn on.
I pulled out my cell phone. Shit! Still no signal.
“Um…I still don’t have a signal. Do you have a land line I could use?”
Layton walked over and picked up a telephone and pulled out a book at the same time. He flipped through a few pages and then started dialing a number.
“Jack? Hey, it’s Layton Morris.”
Morris. Something about his name was so damn sexy. Oh my god…what in the hell is wrong with me? Stop it, Whitley. You’re done with men. Forever. They are nothing but evil bastards who only want to take everything from you and leave you empty and alone.
“Yep…It’s on the south side of my property on old mills road. Yeah sure, it’s Whitley…” He looked over at me and raised his eyebrow. Really? He forgot my last name already.
“Reynolds…” I said with a sarcastic tone as I rolled my eyes.
“Your cell or home number so he can reach you.” He said with a smirk.
“Oh…” I rattled off my cell phone number and my home number. I took advantage of Layton talking with Jack on the phone and looked around his house more. I walked to another room and peaked in. It was a huge den and office. Again, covered in dead animals. If I didn’t know any better, I would swear that deer was turning it’s head and following me.
Yuk! I’d have nightmares living here. I saw a desk and noticed a few pictures on it. I walked over and picked up a picture of Layton and another guy who looked to be a few years older than Layton.
Brother maybe? Damn…these two boys are drop dead gorgeous.
“Jack’s on his way to get your car.”
I jumped and damn near dropped the picture. “Shit! You scared the hell out of me.”
“You enjoy walking around snooping in people’s homes?”
I instantly felt my cheeks turn hot. I placed the picture back down on the desk and quickly walked out of the room and back into the living room. As I passed him I whispered, “I’m so sorry.”
I made my way back through the kitchen and out onto the back porch where I stood and took in a few deep breaths. The breeze blowing was just cool enough to help me cool off from the instant hot flash that swept through my body. I didn’t know if I was pissed at how he had just treated me or embarrassed that I was caught snooping in his office.
He opened the door and step outside onto the wooden porch. I heard him walk up to me as he came and stood next to me.
“I’m sorry, that was rude of me. I’m just not use to people walking around in my office.”
I slowly turned and looked him in the eyes. There was such sadness there. I wanted to ask him who was in the picture with him but just by his reaction I already had a feeling I knew who it was.
“No, I shouldn’t have walked into your study like that. I’m terribly sorry. So um…you’ll let me know who’s coming to get my car?”
“Oh yeah…here. I wrote it down for you. Jack’s probably the best mechanic in town. Your in good hands.”
As he handed me the paper our fingers touched. He jerked his hand back and then ran it through that messy hair before putting his hat back on. I shoved the paper into my purse and then looked back out towards the hills, my fingers still tingling from where he touched me.
“I bet the sunsets are amazing on this porch.” I said as I glanced over towards him.
He smiled but then it faded. “Yeah, they’re pretty amazing.”
“Surly there’s someone special you share all this with?” I said with a smile. He turned and looked at me and the hurt in his eyes was more than I could stand.
“No, Whitley, there’s no one."
